Job Description Summary
Selected applicants will be interviewed to hire a Registered Nursing (RN) instructor for a full-time tenure track position in the Nursing Division beginning Fall 2020.

Essential Functions & Qualifications

Required:

 

-A current California Registered Nursing license;
-Completion of at least one year's experience teaching courses related to registered nursing or completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing;
-Direct patient care experience within the previous five years in the nursing area, which can be met by one of the criteria below:
  1. One year's continuous, full-time experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in pediatrics or obstetrics, or;
  2. Patient care experience equivalent to the following: medical/surgical, step-down unit, critical care, or emergency department or;
  3. One academic year of registered nurse clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency.

AND Either:

-Master's degree in Nursing;
OR
-Bachelor's degree in nursing AND Master's degree in health education or health science;

OR

-The equivalent (candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment, indicated on the Equivalency Process link);

OR

-A valid Community College credential in the discipline.

Also Required:
-Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desirable:
-Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;
-Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges.

Interview Process Information
Selected applicants will be required to attend an interview and teaching demonstration on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

Second interviews will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
